National tyres, oil change for v6= £36

That seems a very decent price, but I notice they quote 6 litres for my car, but the last service receipt for my car states 5 litres of 10W/40, so which is correct for a 2.5 V6, 5l or 6l?

The last thing I want is some young apprentice over filling it because the computer says 6l

Price quoted is OK, takes no time at all to change the oil and filter when up on a lift, which is probably why it's reasonable.

The question is, do you trust them to remove and replace the under-tray properly and when done will it still have all its fixings intact...

Depots may vary, but I sure as heck wouldn't be letting a National tyre depot do anything not tyre related to my car!

Not bad value, but surely just a loss leader for them to increase footfall and get your car up on the ramp. Shocks/exhaust/Tyres Sir

5.2 Litres of 10/40 is recommended for V6 2.5 Lte. This includes replacing the oil filter.

...... But there were tests done, (there is a thread about it on here somewhere) that it is best to only put 4.7 litres upon refill. That equates to halfway between the High & Low Markers on the Dipstick.

do it yourself, that way you will have a drop of oil left just in case you need a top up later, plus you can choose your brand of choice, with the confidence that comes with that. not to mention the satisfaction of doing something good for your car.(it really is easy - unless your undertray bolts are rusted solid like mine were, them take it to them this time)

Good point,I am just lacking the confidence to work on the stuff myself. Need to get over it.I started a thread the other day about tools so have now gone ahead and ordered some that people suggested.

Need to wait until next payday before I can get some decent axle stands and jack,but by then I will hopefully have plucked up the courage to tackle the basics!

I've got the Aldi trolley jack pal and Draper axle stands off Amazon...

Don't spend too much on em pal, they all do the same job!

Takes me 15mins to do an oil change once it's drained nicely... Once you've done it you'll wonder why you worried about it...
