G'day one and all - aye, it's warm and sunny up 'ere in God's own county too.
My old bones & joints don't feel quite so old and rusty in this weather - which is just as well, because the lawns are in need of another cut.

I was in the garden & noticed all the cats at the conservatory window looking at something! then a young pigeon appeared from behind a bush.
I don't let our cats out at this time of year because there are numerous birds nesting in our garden. I don't fancy it's chances if it stays there we have a lot of cats that come visiting us.

On a slightly different tack - does anyone have close neighbours who have wood burning stoves installed? Despite the sunshine, we've had a few cooler nights, and a selection of neighbours have been using their stoves for a bit of heating. The problem is the amount of ash they produce. A clean and polished car, after one session of somebody else's wood burner, is covered in white ash. At the same time, there are times when we have to close all our windows, as the smell of the wood burners can be quite invasive. Is it possible my neighbours are using any old scrap timber, which may cause the smell and the ash - or is this par for the course with wood burning stoves

Basenji breed called Anchy - a Lady in the meadow Nairobi by philip Gate Keeper, on Flickr
Earlier on today, Anchy our 11 year old Basenji, ran under the wheels of my 4x4 as we were driving out. It was immediately clear that she suffered a broken leg and hip, as well as internal injuries. We took her to the vet straight away and he came out to the car, as she was in too much pain to move. She remained conscious and we discussed saving her. He said she will need surgery to repair the hip and internal injuries. Her age was against her and he felt she would suffer more. I stayed with her, whilst the vet gave her a powerful highly potent general anaesthetic. Within seconds, her suffering was ended, it was that quick. We brought her back home and laid her to rest in our animal cemetery. We buried her deep. Rest in Peace my little friend. We loved you and will miss you x |

Anchy will now be over the Rainbow bridge. New smells and old friends to make the journey easier. Memories will always live on.
