Dent Removal
Has anyone had any experience of removing small dents with hot glue methods, such as the amtech dent removal kit ?
I have a small dent in the boot lid, nothing much, but it's there! rang the local dent man and he said £70-£80 ...... yes I know, you pay for the workmanship.... but if these kits do the job? any feedback is welcome

I asked a similar question a little while back regarding a dented sill. The answers I got suggested that the kits might be ok if the metal is reasonably thin where your dent is, but not so useful on the stiffer bits. I'd be interested to know how you get on if you do decide to try it though.

Don't waist your money on these kits, I watched one being demonstrated at a trade show and you would think that it would be shown in its best light. The guy displaying the product put a dent in a door on a Citroen and demonstrated how effective the kit was at removing said dent. As he applied pressure the dent started coming out and then the paint came off . He was rather embarrassed and made some comment about rubbish French cars.
If you have been quoted £70 to get a dent out he will probably do a couple if you have any more as that is normally there minimum charge. Worth every penny if he is any good. |

I do know these kits only work on factory paintwork, not resprayed panels... if a respray it will pull paint off, so maybe his panel was not genuine paint? Just a thought
You tube seems to reflect some good results

It can be frustrating. My latest one on my front passenger door was caused by some kind person in a car park.
It's so small many don't even notice but I see it all the time. Then just to compound the issue, only yesterday my eagle eyed Grandson said "hey Grandad, do you know you have a dent in your door" Grrrrrrr!!

Used 1 of these kits,no success after 5/6 attempts. Dent was very small diameter, had to cut down rubber on puller still no good. There is a thread somewhere on forum using hairdryer.

Quality product in the right hands and they work perfectly. I guess all down to the tools and skill set.

I've used this on a number of dents and it does the job well as long as the paint isn't cracked, patience and following the instructions is the key I've found. It only has 2 plugs for applying the glue so if neither of these fit the dent then other sizes are available, just make sure you buy the ones with the right thread
