If anyone is meeting in and about Glasgow, read on.

Im beginning to feel paraniod about cameras! I got an e-mail today . . . .

From the 23 April 2012 Glasgow City Council will commence bus lane enforcement using a digital camera system that will record vehicles illegally making use of the City bus lanes. A Charge Notice of £60 may be issued to the registered keeper of the vehicle.
A public awareness campaign will start on 26 March 2012 and warning letters will be issued for a two week period prior to enforcement starting on 23 April 2012.

Councils have got to get their budget shortfall from somewhere and we motorists will always be a soft target.

Watch out for more congestion / confusion as paranoid drivers keep out of the bus lanes even when they are entitled to use them. Still, at least it might help the buses to run on time.

Yes, a lot of the bus lanes are only bus lanes during certain hours. I love using them and love the dirty looks from other drivers who think they are correct!

The best one was the A38 through Brum a couple of years back when the council had installed bus lanes but then they immediately 'closed' them (something like they hadn't applied for the correct licence/permission?). It was a nice little private lane for those who could be bothered to read the signs

I wrote a Marina off in a bus lane about 35 years ago. She was in the outside lane when she decided my bus lane looked quicker but she didn't check her near side mirror!

It was the first week of the first ever bus lane in Southampton. The copper who attended cautioned me and told me that cars are allowed in bus lanes when they want to and it's the job of bus drivers to give way to car drivers who wish to use the bus lane.

About a week later I was called to the police station to be interviewed while under caution. After I was interviewed I was told I was going to be charged with driving without due care when I told him he had better check that with his superiors before he did that. He decided not to charge me there and then but would get back to me. A couple of weeks later I had a very nice letter from the police apologising for any misunderstanding and telling me they had charged the car driver.

I think perhaps the copper got a bit of a rollicking and told to brush up on the new bus lane rules.

This very morning i was driving along the maryhill road bus lane ( in my taxi) and a woman in black clio drove the full length of the lane .
At the lights i informed her she was caught by the new cameras and it would cost her 60 quid .
