Default Carburettor flooding

Hi, I have a Rover V75 1999 petrol 2 litre V6 engine whic will not start.
I have checked the spark and it is ok.
I took off the air inlet and found lots of fuel in the intake elbow that connects the filter air duct to the carburettor. Any cranking or just opening the throttle will drip fuel out of the air duct.
Can any one suggest what might be the problem??
Regards
Jai

The first problem is that your car doesn't have a carburettor!

If the fuel has got that far the engine is well and truely flooded.

You could try flooriing the accelerator and see if it will start, but I suspect you may have to check the plugs.

I suspect you may have another problem, as the ECU should cut the pump to prevent this from happening if the car fails to start

So how is the fuel inducted in the cylinder- there is no signs of injectors

I tried Flooring the accelerator, as the throttle opens fuel drips out,
I took out the three front spark plugs, checked the gap and turned the engine with the plugs out. Got rich sparks on all 3 plugs.

HI Tareim, thanks so much for the advice especially the attached photo. The question remains as to why the fuel colects in duct?

Hi Jai,

What's the history of this car (your profile says that you have a 1.8)?
Did this happen after engine or fuel system work was carried out? Or did it just fail to start one day?

I'd have thought that the only route for petrol to enter the throttle body is via the charcoal filter and purge valve.
