Bank Holiday, lovely weather = big crowds. Nothing unusual with that I suppose. Lovely place for a day out though.

It looks to have been an unprecedented number of visitors to me.I have been lots of times when it has been very busy but in those pictures it looks manic.
It's only a small place and the amenaties couldn't cope.As said earlier, much more pleasant mid week if you can do it.

Whitby, quite rightly, is famed for its fish and chips. But if you are visiting, and are lovers of home made steak pie, then The Windmill Inn at Stainsacre, just south of Whitby, has a truly wonderful steak pie, lots of it too, lovely chunks of steak, not the minced stuff you sometimes get, and very nice gravy.
It may be worth giving them a ring to check it's still on the menu if you fancy going, but I can tell you, it's up there with the best I have ever had....and I like my steak pie.

We found a campsite in town last year which was jolly convenient l must say. Car parking was therefore sorted along with our night's rest. Had dinner at Middle Earth just down the road, a very nice pub with good food & beer.
I fear l over-indulged.
A lovely town.
