JB, remember there's now a metal Master cylinder available:
Metal Master Kit

Having suffered at the hands of the plastic Master in my old 75 (several in just a year!) and had several returned to me as faulty (all genuine Rover) it's a welcome addition to the shop.

If you do find the Slave has failed, I offer the Borg & Beck kit including everything needed for the job. Several members have fitted it with excellent results, and no failures to date.

Good luck,
Mat

Any signs of fluid leakage on the carpet in the driver's footwell??

You have replaced the clutch and slave cylinder- I'm sure more expert minds on here will be able to establish if you installed good stuff or a hostage to fortune..

I have a very simple view, distilled from mostly here- if the clutch needs doing, replace the slave while you've dropped everything out, and top it all out with a new master- otherwise, seal/component degradation in the older units will damage if not destroy newly installed bits 'n pieces.

Simples

I agree - if nothing else change the Slave and Clutch at the same time (and flush the Master out), but now the Master is £70 rather than £120, it makes it a little easier to do the whole shebang at once.

Default Clutch

Thank you all again. I will find out the issue over the weekend and let you know. I forgot about the clutch bleed. Will start there. If I need any parts I'll give you a shout Mat. All the best, JB.

Default Clutch

Ok. Looked at the master cylinder today, and its been leaking. Bled the system and have the peddle back and clutch working. It will need changing but will wait until the weather improves. I don't want to move my V8 outside when its raining to use the garage....... Thx again for all your help. All the best, JB
