What's that fitting in the Boot for?

Inside the boot lid on My Rover 2005 CDTi, within the RHS carpeting is a plastic pull out and pull down cable about 30cm long. What's the for? Anyone? ED

Do you have a tourer? Could be the emergency opening cable

Same thing on the saloon.

Here, it's on the lid liner.

Thanks, I've never owned a saloon and can't remember having seen one other than on a tourer

'Marmite' Possibly one of the most famous 75 tourers produced! left the production line as the last of only Three Rover 75 tourers produced in Trophy Yellow. 48 hours later Longbridge closed. The last sold ordered 75 Tourer. Paid for by the Phoenix Four and handed over by John Towers to the Warwickshire Northampton Air ambulance service as a Rapid Response vehicle
