I prefer the ride of the 15", and especially in the wet - weird I know... but I like the look of the 16" unions the best

That pretty much sums up my thoughts too

Got rid of the Crowns 'cos I didn't like cleaning 'em. Still have 15's though in the form of Contours, nice big gap for the wheel brush

I found the Crowns were decent enough to drive on with 205s, but on 195s, I wasn't so keen. 16s are the best compromise of ride and handling. However, I found on the 17s, I was able to drive on the door handles rather well. Certainly would have 17s on my next 75, without a doubt. Ride quality depends more on tyres than anything. I've driven 75s on 15s with cheap tyres which rode badly, yet mine always rode nicely on 17s with premium tyres.

I'm happy with my 15-inch wheels. I haven't noticed any difference in ride compared to the 16-inch Unions on my previous 75, but the money saved when buying new tyres is good! I really like Crowns - I have Comets which don't look as nice but are probably easier to clean (not that I clean them very often... )

I have not long had a set of tyres fitted to my ZT-T and pricewise were £103.50 per tyre for Falken 225/45/18 tyres. Compared to the 16" wheels I used to have on my 75 the 18"wheels give a lot firmer ride. But I think a lot if this is because of the suspension set up difference between the 75 and ZT. I much prefer the gridspokes on my ZTT for cleaning as the forked alloy wheels which were fitted to my 75 were quite awkward to clean.

There's definably a trade off between comfort levels between my old 15" wheels and my newly acquired 17" serpents. I'm a sucker though for the good looks of the serpents and am more than happy with them.

I have 17" meteors Bob, with the standard 225/45-17 tires being the standard fit. Went to 225/55-17 and it is a carpet ride even over the vicious speed humps, at one of the biggest radio circumferences you can get to fit my wheel arches.
Like you the different tyre sizes for the 'norm' do cost more. Here was the result http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=197035

15's for ultimate comfort for sure but best with 205's not 195's.
More rim protection with the wider profile and slightly better road holding !

just switched from 15's to 17's myself.
I was expecting it to be a lot worse than it is. Frankly the main difference I noticed (which I also saw on my wife's Dorchester v6 75 on unions) was that when going over bumps the wheels would make a much more pronounced 'thump' in many cases, which I never saw on my 15's. I also notice a much more increased road noise, but I'm yet to experiement with better tyres. Other than that, on the 17's I have found the ride mostly as good, but far better on cornering. I was expecting far worse from what I'd read.
