not sure if that's very philosophical and zen, or just very rude. going to assume the latter...

ABS & speedo issue sorted out now, another pending fault was present and was remedied successfully.
Parking brakes stripped and cleaned, found o/s adjuster was seized in the fully backed off position, so who ever fitted the compensator made no adjustment to the o/s shoes. A bit unusual but he ho ! All deglazed shoes and pads prepped and fitted accordingly. Now has brakes that all work together very well.

I will let Tony add the next few bits, otherwise I will be considered as "Hijacking" the story. What does it for me is, how chuffed folk can be when stuff gets sorted.

Cheers JohnH.

many thanks to John for this.

I have suffered massively with enthusiasm for this based on all the problems I've had with this car and my other one at times I can least cope with it. still. never a good time i guess is one point of view.

What he didn't mention was how he also replaced and repaired the number plate pcb, replaced the wing, mirror chrome bullet cap and popped another undertray on (hopefully the last) with proper 25 mm bolts that won't get ripped off by grounding on speed humps.

Can't say thanks to you too many times, John its good you were able to undo the problems caused on a previous owners watch with the handbrake compensator and subsequent adjustment - or lack of!

I also used the DA on it all over, cut with 3m yellow, refined and polished with 3m blue, and finished off with autoglym SRP, finally sealing with Autoglym Extra Gloss protection. Last step was a good waxing with Harley Wax.

I'm pleased enough with the results , as per the pics below.

Mechanically, this car finally is working properly. It has been the bane of my life for months, but some 5 months after I have bought it, it is finally in a position where it would not fail an mot if presented (won't have to until November though), what with various warning lights popping up on the dashboards regarding bulb failures and ABS failures, and speedo problems.

What remains for this car now is purely aesthetic - I have a pair of alloys i want to replace the existing ones I have put on as a temporary measure, and I want to fit a subwoofer to make the stereo a little more balanced - it has a navall, and HK door speakers, so a good sub will round it off nicely. Hopefully that aspect of it will be fixed up end of this week, as for the wheels, that will take a little longer due to financial pressures.

Tony, we always enjoy the banter and sometimes get stuff done too !
Always nice seeing this lovely machine especially now the cosmetic graft has been sorted by your fair hands.
The remaining projects will get tidied up soon enough !

Cheers, JohnH.
