Testing a FBH?

I'm looking to add a FBH into my shed & I've found one localism but the car has no ecu so I can't power it up via the ignition.
I've read some threads which say to earth pin 3 but these are when its fitted to a running car. Will this test still work on a car without ecu?

I think it will work, as long as you've got a fuel source, fuel pump and power wired up - but bear in mind that one requires earth to 12v, the other requires ground - it depends on if you get the early or late unit.
