Thinking you might have the mirrors without the switch is just wishful thinking, sorry.

No.
Actually you can, you just turn them and they click round to the folded position - otherwise they would be damaged by passers-by folding them. Next time you power fold, they will resync, click and work normally.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Wow, this is turning into a real can of worms - the gent I bought it off answered saying it never had them, but I also spoke to the chap who sold it originally, and he swears blind it did. Given the guy I bought it off seems to have meddled with quite a lot I'm now finding, I believe the other chap. Question is, are the actual mirrors still power, and just a different switch pack because he was a tight wad, or has he took them altogether?

I have cruise and powerfolds on my 75 and use both every time I use the car and miss them on my 260. The cruise allows me to concentrate on the road rather than the speedo and the powerfolds I find invaluable when parking in public carparks. I have got a set of powerfolds to retro fit to the 260 when I find the time but cruise retro fit is beyond me

You don't think there might be confusion between 'powerfolds' as in the whole folding door mirror unit and adjustable mirrors as in the mirror glass in the holder moving?

No, the person who told me it had them is a regular dealer in these cars, he knows them well. I'll have to try and check the back of the switch and the mirrors. See if there's anything left.

Possibly, or a press/fleet car. As already stated BX and BU?,I believe, were the prefix for Birmingham Longbridge so any car registered with the factory or sales centre would of had that prefix.

Here's a little update, because I like things to have a happy ending! Was at the Nano meet yesterday, and Jubarelly kindly offered up his powerfold switch to try in my car....and low and behold she DOES have working powerfolds! All she needed was a switch, and luckily a member on here had one for sale, which I've snapped up! I am SO happy !

Depends on where you drive. If you spend a lot of time on motorways and speed restricted roads (motorways count, especially with all the 50mph roadworks, = M1), then I find CC a boon; saves fuel and protects your license!
