Hi Alan.
Thank you for your post above I managed to find a spare few minutes today to take a couple of photo's of the fuse box behind the glove compartment, I now have to decide which one is going to be best to tap into.

I will be using a piggy back fuse as in the photo below,

1

Any suggestions which fuse to tap into are appreciated, i was looking to use either fuse 15/16 cigar lighter, or Accessories F16 .

Would it be wiser to use one of the spare fuses ? 38 or 39, are the ignition though, as i want the cam to turn & on with ignition.

3

Once i have decided or found out, i will set about fitting the cam and do a photo shoot of the procedure.

HI Rick.
Does that work with the ignition on and off so the cam would power off, & on when ignition is turned on II or the car is started, would it also not be better for the cam to have its own fuse point ? if so do you or any other member know if fuse 38-39 is ignition controlled.

Be very careful doing this - the switched live isn't for drawing power from, only as a signal - if you pull too much power you will get some weird behaviour (e.g. wipers coming on when you turn the ignition off).

I wired mine up with a relay for this reason.

Fuse 16 is ignition live so comes on with the ignition in position II and off with the ignition off with no delay. Not sure about fuse 38-39, never tried them.

Am not sure if you are thinking I have connected to the electric aerial/amplifier switching wire (thin blue), or not here. The switched live on our cars (and any ISO wiring equipped car I have worked on since 1992 - yellow or red coloured sheath) has been 12v constant whilst active ie key pos I. I do always confirm this, as some manufacturers will use yellow for switched, whilst other use red. It has been fine now for the past 2.5 years of using it.

I have habitually tested/confirmed this since having been called upon to correct a failed installation in a non ISO 90s Primera taxi. The fitter for our company had wired up the neg to the illumination wire!!! So when the taxi driver went out on his night shift, all the lights failed the instant he turned on his sidelights!

I'm very sure I know what you mean - it's an odd quirk of these cars. It's often described as a "BCU Pulse".

I have never had an issue with the stereo wiring. Well that is not true lol, but that was my fault. I had fitted an old Panasonic stereo to test before giving it away, and in my haste I plugged it straight in using the fitted ISO lead in the car. Removed the key and the wipers gave a wipe. Perm live on the Panasonic was reversed

Hi Rick.
From what you are saying then unless I can find out for sure what 38-39 are ignition on/off, 16F looks to be the one to use, but as I said I would of preferred the cam to have its own fuse place.

Does anyone know if 38-39 F are ignition on/off please.

I dont know, however you should be able to verify it with a tester, or a simple bulb and 2 wires. With the positive probe in the feed side of the fuse holder, and neg connected to a good earth, turn the key to pos I, and then off again. Test in all key positions too with engine running also.
