Default Which uprated battery for my diesel?

Hi guys

I want to upgrade my battery in the diesel. I notice when I put the windows up or down via the switch, the interior dash lights dim and noticed in the winter it's taking a bit more to start it. Also, I have aftermarket sound system and when this is on, I notice the lights dimming so I'm looking to upgrade the battery. What do you recommend?

Many thanks.

I recomemend you check the connections, earth points, terminals and alternator output before blowing a ton on a battery...

Personally, I would replace the battery first and then see if there is a need for further checks. A new battery is always going to be better than a tired one that may be a few years old.

I would use the one removed from the car with handheld lights etc. when working on the car.

Either of these will be perfect.

Slightly cheaper here

Recommended to me by a fellow forum member last year, usually next day delivered and performing well in my 2 75 diesels.

Cheers guys. Alternator was checked recently and reading was fine. Will check earths etc but I think they are fine and fairly sure it is the battery. I'll have a look at those batteries.

I've had similar thoughts for the past few weeks.

My current battery is an Exide Premium (77Ah, 760A). For a while now, when running the FBH in parking heater mode, it switches off before the predetermined period (heated seat switch timer) which I think indicates low battery voltage (PCB has been checked, glow plug replaced, functioning perfectly otherwise with a running engine etc). And more so, T4 (VT4) now occasionally gives a low battery voltage warning when connecting.

I should probably just remove the battery from the car and charge it overnight as the first measure but I'd like to be prepared for when I actually need a new battery. The last time time I had to replace it, it was -25 degC outside, fingers numb, and I broke the battery box lid in pieces as it had become brittle.

I'm almost certain that I will go for a Bosch battery, as per Marinabrian's post. What concerns me is that I see you guys post a lot about 5 year warranties but all we get here is 2 years. Maybe the ones sold here are worse...

There are two lengths to choose from - 278 mm and 315 mm. I would prefer to use the original clamp with the 278 mm one, but perhaps it's useful to have the extra Ah when using the FBH as a parking heater? Especially when one has fitted a GSM switch (I haven't yet) and uses it a lot?

Now what I wanted to get to is the AGM batteries. I've only come across a few posts by member T16 where he recommends an AGM battery (http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...85&postcount=5) and a thread by member Lovel (http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ad.php?t=56284) but that was more than 6 years ago.

So, anyone in the knowledge, are the AGM batteries compatible with our alternators/voltage regulators and do they justify themselves?
