Default Cruise cutting out in the wet

Title says it all. At first, i thought the fault was with the foot pedal switch but it's not that. Cruise sets and works just fine in the dry but in (very) wet conditions, it cuts out and I'm unable to engage it again unless I stop and restart the engine (at a refreshment stop). Even then, it sometimes won't reactivate until the following day and when it's drier outside. Is there an external switch that might be compromised and when wet, trips the cruise to 'off'?

Car's an automatic V6. TIA

One tip is to not use cruise in the wet, it can prove dangerous if wheel spin occurs briefly....And the cruise control doesn't cut off.... There's a lot of debate on whether or not cruise is safe in the wet at all. But what is known is that some modern cars will turn off the cruise control if traction control is required.

I don't know if that is what is happening with your car though.

Cruise disabled when it hit standing water on my diesel, without traction control.

Happens on my Renault Megane, too.

Yes, most likely the sudden change in wheel speed is detected and the cruise shut off for safety reasons.

The cruise on mine also cuts out of it detects a change in speed on one of the driven wheels. Although I'm able to restart it as soon as I like afterwards. Never had any problem as far as I can remember. Never had to turn off the car or wait until the next day. I can't help as to what might be causing this on your car though.

I was using it on this occasion in a long 50 MPH zone and it wasn't traction control that triggered it. The fact that I couldn't reactivate it suggests some kind of fault.

I'd suggest getting the fault codes read off then reset and then wait for it to happen again and see what the fault code is. Is it still only it the wet that it does it?

Seems to be. Works fine other times I've used it (in the dry).

As a stab in the dark, check the seating of the micro switch above the clutch pedal? When I bought mine the cruise light would come on the switch, but not activate. Removed the lower panel and "clicked the switch back into position and it works fine. Yours may be just working loose or slightly out of position?

But only when it rains...
