The extra width will give you more road noise and dropping the profile will result in loss of comfort, but going back to your original question..they will fit

Hoping to improve grip
Hoping to not losw to much comfort to bw fair good ride to start with and profile not a massive stop. Anyway more a cost cutting exercise really , using what I got instead of spending . Still out of work so price is priority at min

Now i could be wrong here but if the overall diameter is smaller due to the ratio difference, wont the speedo be out?

Also the rim width may not be suitable for the 225 width of the tyre mentioned,

Not to sure on these ideas so please correct me if i am talking tosh

I understand that overall diameter will affect speedo readings however given how small a difference we ate talking here and it really is a small difference I'm not concerned how much it will affect my driving with the speedo affected . It's the tyre width difference that is my query really but you would be amazed the amount of lads putting mg 18 s on and not realising the speedo is out ...

Hi Russel,
I had a similar question I asked myself a while back. Union wheels have 215 tyres and if you put 225 tyres on them you'll have wider tyres and with them sticking out further they stand a good chance of catching on the wing lip when the suspention goes up and down causing damage to the tyre and worse case scenario a blowout which nobody wants. Personaly I'd advise against it.

Cant see how it would potentially catch the arches, bearing in mind that ZT's all come with 225's?

Hi, they will fit ok with no real risk of damage at all.
The only concern I would have is that your rolling circumference will be reduced slightly thereby increasing your revs at the same speed thereby increasing fuel consumption. Also I find they already rev quite high as it is. If they were 55 ratio at 225 it would be better. You will be safe though because your speedo will over read even more, at an indicated 70 you will more than likely be doing closer to 60....! Check it with your satnav.
Ciao.

Tbh thats a fair point I will see my local garage about swapping or px for 225 55 16 as long as wider tyre will fit wheel that removes the problem of engine reving higher , mind you might make it quicker low end which is where its lacking
