Yes as it's name suggests it is a bus system carrying information to and from some of the ECUs.
Do you have a SatNav? If so start with unpluggng that. This was a suggested method of faultfinding the K-bus which I would happily credit, but I don't know who wrote it. When diagnosing a difficult K Bus fault I found this to be the best method 1) Locate connector co289 behind the driver kick panel, it is a grey connector taped to the main loom 2) Label the ten wires (white with a red line and yellow band) so they can go back into the correct pin hole on the connector 3) Remove all ten wires, this is achieved by gently prising up the plastic and pulling the wire out 4) Insert pins 2, 3 and 4 which are the main K Bus interfaces IPK, LSM and BCU 5) Switch on the ignition and put the indicator stalk on left or right (You should have an indicator tell tale light on the dash) 6) Put each K Bus wire back into the connector one at a time in 20 second intervals (this gives the IPK time to test and realise there is a fault on that wire) When you place a wire in that has a fault the indicator tell tale on the dash fails to illuminate. . The author is MGMarc Mike and that's exactly the advice to which I linked in my post no. 8.
John; the ECU which primarily deals with the K-bus is called the GM6 body control unit. It is situated behind the passenger glove box if you want to check for water damage. Simon

Thank Simon,
I realise this must be infuriating for you and I am grateful for your trouble. I finally have the information I need to start looking for the problem. "The GM6 body control unit behind the passenger glove box" and the connector co289 behind the driver kick panel. My CV joint seems to have been damaged as a result of the flood also so as soon as I can get that fixed if I have not been able to resolve the K-Bus issue I will try to get it to Exeter road garage for diagnostic specialist assistance. |

Problem resolved
OK so I eventually took the car to Exeter Road Garage in Newton Abbott. They were very helpful and understood the problem immediately it turned out to be a faulty wire in the Can bus so he cut out the faulty wire and replaced it, problem solved. Thank you everyone for trying to help but I am sorry it took me so long to find Exeter Road Garage.
