Default Check Engine Light - 05 Diesel

For those who saw my initial post I knew the car I just bought had an illuminated check engine light, although the car seems to be running perfectly normally.

So I’m waiting for a cable to come so I can check with TOAF what the issue is, or get a T4 session booked, but in the meantime I tried Arctics suggestion of reseating the fuel Filter connector (although I’ve not yet dug my spray out to
do it properly) and I thought that did the trick as the light went out and stayed out for a few restarts. It comes back, but after 3 ignition cycles it goes out again, and stays off for a few more restarts.

The previous owner stated it had been on for a couple of months and went out for the first time after I first saw the car and checked the fuel filter. I’ve only had it a couple of days, so I’m hoping it is something daft, I’ll update this thread when I know more / get any error codes.

Hi Chris
It maybe a little break in one of the wires to the connector ? try contact cleaner first pushing it on & off a few times, if its going out after you tried then it's pointing to that.

Change the filter head Chris, I have known them to fail and throw a light on.

Do you want me to pop over young Mofo?

I'm sure the T4 will still work, despite it's lack of recent use

Have you sorted all your hk wiring gremlins Chris? That might have a bearing on this.

Yeah, to be honest it'll need a service so no harm in doing this first.

Not yet, although I do have some parts coming to resolve. I was thinking about this last night - whomever went around stripping off parts certainly did not worry about potential issues so I am going to make good on what has been removed, give it a service, run some decent fuel through it and check the above suggestions.
