Which was?

I used (sparingly) copper grease.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Hello Robert,

Red grease is for use on things in close proximity to brake fluid. The handbrake linkage doesn't require that. I have Girling green brake grease for purely mechanical applications but I guess that you can use any high melting point grease, sparingly of course.

Yes, that's why I said 'sparingly', even so, the handbrake will not get hot, it's not a service brake.

For such as lubricating brake assemblies hand brake links, shoe / pad rubbing areas etc. I have used high temperature ceramic grease for years, as Harry says, the handbrake adjusters will not get excessively hot...............unless it gets it from heat soak from the disc after descending one of the steep alpine passes lugging a caravan.

Use a very light application of GRAPHITE grease.
The trace of oil will vanish leaving a dry lubricant in its place.--
