Default Indiscriminate non starter

Good morning
My 75 is 18 years old done 52k miles has always been serviced etc , last August I started having problems starting , I could drive 20/30 miles no issues then stop for 5 minutes go back car would not start , leave it for a few hours or days even go back start and drive perfect , all good until now and it is doing the same again no warnings no lights on nothing , happened last night been out to it this morning started first time perfect . Any ideas please

Please note this is not a battery issue when i say no lights i mean warning lights /engine management lights I did have RAC out to it but the car started run perfect no fault codes came up either

If it totally dead , not turning over at all it could be the small wire on the starter motor.
Next time it does it a quick wiggle on the spade connector should sort it.
If it does give the blade a clean up of corrosion.

Happened to me a few weeks ago

As Stan above says if it's not turning over it is more than likely a starter problem. prime suspect is the light duty wire that connects to the starter solenoid, if not that then it will be the solenoid contacts ( Kits available on Ebay for under £20.)
If you are saying the car turns over but will not fire and it appears to work OK when cooled down then the Cam sensor is favourite. First sign of failure is refusal to start when warm.

Is it 1) not turning over, or 2) turning over and not starting ?
