Default TOAF Cable Mod

Hi guys my obd cable looks a bit different to the pictures I've seen on here - can anyone advise on which pins I'm soldering? I can't tell which is 7 and 8?

Cheers

Providing the cable you bought conforms to the usual VAG COM KKL 409.1 standard, then ignore the appearance of the pcb etc, it will be oK. The pins are usually numbered on the front board they emerge from, if not check the back side. If not marked then use this diagram of an OBD2 SOCKET.

The plug goes in with corresponding pin numbers. So, looking at the pin face of the plug, wider side at top, Nos 7 and 8 are top left.

Hope this helps.

Edit:

Instructions deleted due to picture having been removed so the instructions wouldn't make any sense without the diagram to refer to.

OK mine will be tricky then because of those two that are connected already - looks like 6&7 to 15&16 - why is that?

Perhaps I bought the wrong one - can anyone point me in the right direction of one? Is there a BMW one I can buy that doesn't require the bridge? I've got my Mot in 2 weeks and have the airbag light on. Have done the plugs under the seats which cured it but now it's back so I was hoping to use TOAF to isolate the problem

Slide the other part of the blue plug off the pcb, then turn the pcb over and you will see where 7&8 are as in T-Cuts post, also, as T-Cut mentions there are variations on a theme as to pcb design they don't all look the same depending on the manufacturer.

OK thanks for the advice everyone. I bridged 7&8 and it says connection successful via com3 and 4 (?) but it won't connect to any of the modules. Tried the software that came with the cable too and it says controller not responding.

Given how hit and miss these cables seem to be I'm of a mind to just buy a BMW one. Can anyone give me a steer on which one?

Cheers
