Default Windscreen replacement

Hi all, I want to get a new windscreen fitted to my car, it's not cracked or got any big chips, but the whole screen is covered in loads of tiny little marks that makes it hard to see in the sunlight. I've had a quote of £160 for a new screen, fitted at my home address. It's not as much as I was expecting, especially as just the screen from Rimmers is £150!

I seem to remember hearing before people saying that after having a screen replaced the fitter had broken something, but I can't remember what it is, to tell them to watch out for. Can anyone tell me what it is so I can either try and get a spare ready, and also ask them to be careful.

Thanks

you could go a step further and have a heated windscreen fitted.
I think it is Rick-sta doing them, he did have a spare but may have sold it.

The scuttle panel plastics go brittle so have to be handled with care like wise the button clips can fly off in all directions and get lost.
Autoglass replaced my screen last year and because of the above I removed wipers and scuttle myself before fitter arrived and then replaced after the job was done.

I've been tempted each time a batch has been done, but apart from the price putting me off, every car I've been in that has a heated screen, the lines through the screen drive me mad, I just can't stop myself fixating on them. Every time my sunglasses get a slight scratch on the lens I have to get a new pair...

Thanks, sounds like a plan, though I'm not great at not making the clips fly into the unknown either...

Strongly urge you to avoid Autoglass: very expensive. I used local Somerset company who were around half the price - and excellent.

My replacement was insurance driven so only cost me excess, but would imagine they would be charging top dollar.

Greetings, I am Taunton based and wanting to replacement windscreen on R75 2000 V6 due to laminate lifting at corners. Could you let me know the local firm you recommend?

Drop Dave aka Miss Moppet a PM to be sure he sees your ask.
