Yes! He broke the rules set out by his own party, as did Cummings.

They seem to think they can get away with blue murder while the rest of us have restrictions forced onto us.

They should all bloomin resign.

I confess to being puzzled to an extent at the apparent widespread acceptance of his repeated lying about statistics and daily blank faced declarations of what 'we' all should be doing. He himself 'apologises' for not sticking to the rules as though that's what really matters.

Count me very much out on that. Anybody, yes anybody, that deliberately abuses the trust and long term support of their family, especially where there are young children, and only faces that abysmal deceit when absolutely forced to, is beyond any reformation.

The damage to the family is irreparable and creates a feeling of abandonment which affects them for life. Old fashioned? Well, maybe, but how far must standards be dropped before the ultimate exposure becomes tawdry?

Lying in his job, presumably under orders, is one thing. It fades when the other thing is revealed and can only confirm the mistrust and rejection of anything he says.

Yes, people can change. It's the ongoing long term deceit that disgusts and makes him beyond the pale. Apparently he told his wife that the marriage was over just last week! When he had to!

People are already suggesting he will be back in other office before long. What does that say about his colleagues?

YES! He got caught engaging in immoral behavior it demonstrates his charachter is bad and that he is no fit for office but he is among others just the same and his boss Boris tried to give him a free pass because he is just as bad if not worse - nobody knows how many kids Boris has fathered.

Matt Hancock should have resigned over the Serco contract, the Care Home deaths, the PPE disaster and the treatment of NHS workers and carers and the murder of my mum.

"If anybody thinks they could have done a better job over the last 18 months I suggest they put there name forward at the next election but I suspect any of us would have made the same or even bigger mistakes. I would not want that job for any amount of money."

Wow, that’s a bit strong Steve! I suggest the opposite. For one thing,

DO NOT LIE.

It is what it is – Lies always come back to haunt. If that is not the under(lying) message then who believes whom? It’s hardly an anthem of glory.

We need representatives of all shades of the human condition of course, but the primary motivation must be to tell it like it is. Some of us are expecting the truth, anything else is cobblers. I don’t mean from the media, they have something to sell, just our representatives.

For the record: It was not a mistake. It was a deliberate and knowingfull lie of considerable time, both in terms of his job and in terms of his honesty in marriage.

Default And the Room Next Door

Here's the inimitable Michael Spicer's take on it here.
