Hi David,
Appears to be German manufacture ('Powerfix Profi+' sub-brand made for Lidl and others I would think - Deiderichs Gmbh, Wuppertal) VPS/GA approved.
Two unit range - 28-210Nm and 2.9-21.4kg/m KPS. Accuracy +/- 4%
Good quality bright chrome finish, audible 'click' type set-point warning. Did excellent job when I replaced both rear wheel bearings recently, easy as pie removing 2004 originals and fitting the new jobs.

others can advise, if a Torque wrench that does a very wide range of Torque, is any better or worse then one that covers a smaller range of Torque

This a really good question. The accuracy of consumer torque wrenches is usually specified so that it is x% of the maximum of the range. This means that even if within specification, which may not be the case for the £25 instruments as they do not carry a calibration certificate, a torque wrench with a range maximum of 200Nm and +/4% spec can be out by +/- 8Nm when used at 30Nm i.e. the torque applied can be anywhere between 22Nm and 38Nm.

By contrast, a torque wrench with the same accuracy spec and a range of 12 to 50Nm used at 30Nm will have a much smaller possible error i.e. 28Nm to 32Nm.

Given that a fastener with a high torque requirement will always be able to withstand more abuse than one with a lower requirement, my recommendation is to focus more on the lower and mid-range needs i.e. 8Nm to 100Nm.

I have a Halfords Professional 8Nm to 60Nm wrench which is made by Norbar. It has a +/-3% accuracy spec and a calibration certificate with measurements at 10Nm, 40Nm and 60Nm. It's a beautiful piece of engineering and one that I can trust where low torque values are needed. The actual calibration readings on the certificate at the 40Nm setting are between 39.69Nm and 39.95Nm. At 10Nm they are between 10.01Nm and 10.18Nm.

The OP may find the Autoexpress tests helpful.

Afternoon,
Thanks for all your comments and advice.
I just thought I would let you know what I decided to buy.
I had a look at Lidl and Aldi but they did not appear to have any torque wrenches for sale at the moment. I considered Norbar, Draper, Clarke, Teng and eventually decided on a Halfords Advanced Torque Wrench Model 100 1/2" drive and 20 - 100Nm range together with a Halfords 2 piece socket adaptor set.
Thanks for your help.
Regards David

The very worst thing you can do to a torque wrench, is to leave at a torque setting - always put it away set to zero torque. Never use a torque wrench as a general long bar for extra leverage when undoing nuts and bolts.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

i thought the correct thing was set to minimum measurable torque setting when you were finished with it

That is the same thing!

Just slack it all the way back, so the spring is not under tension..

I started out with a 1/2" drive torque wrench as that is usable for wheel nuts and general big fasteners. Later I added a 3/8 drive to do some of the daintier fasteners. I bought a 1/4" drive when I first had the heads off a KV6 and found the masses of small bolts on the cam ladders.
I didn't go crazy price-wise with my torque wrenches as I am just a hobbyist but bought mid-price range units and they have served me well.
I haven't had them calibrated (They did come with certificates) but compare them to each other as a rough indication of accuracy.
My 1/4" is off Amazon, from Capri tools, and I was impressed by the quality for the price.
