Default £950million for new EV chargers

Blimey! The panic buying of fuel seems to have lit a firework under the Governments backside as they've opened up consultations to float £950million to install 35,000 new ev charging points per year until the end of the decade to transition away from fossil fuels. https://www.edie.net/news/11/EVs--UK...ark-operators/

There needs to be statutary limit on the premium charged above the normal electricity prices to limit profiteering.

There are some outrageous prices out there with the Ionity network charging 0.79p/kWh on their fast chargers

Edit: Ionity not Instavolt.

It makes you wonder if this was done to panic ICE owners!, The government must be aware of the 1,600% rise in Google searches for sales of electric vehicles the day after the panic buying started After all he has to go into the Glasgow COP26 in November with a good report card.

COP26 will become, I fear, a well intentioned talking shop. Lots of hot air and statements of intent.

That is a bargain as I pay 16p/kWh for my home. Do you mean £0.79/kWh?

Yes £0.79/kWh. Extortionate price.

Edit: It is the ionity network not the instavolt network & £0.69p/kWh not 79p D'oh. I think I need to take me meds lol.

How many power cuts have I had in the last twenty years versus lack of fuel?

Perhaps 1 time with lack of fuel perhaps 15 years ago, versus half as dozen lengthy power cuts.
