Default Central locking problems...

Hi guys, I have noticed a problem this evening that the drivers side rear door will not unlock on the key but when I unlock it from the inside open the door and close and lock again on the key it will lock, but won't unlock?
this sounds very strange to me and has anybody experienced similar problems? and what can be done to sort the problem?
any advice appreciated
