Successor to Land Rover to be built in France not Bridgend
Britain's richest man, majority shareholder of Ineos, is not now going to build his Grenadier in Bridgend, the old Ford engine plant, but an old Merc plant in France (see here)
He is an ardent Brexiteer but now lives in Monaco . . . The article above says "I always like to take a Land Rover when on safari." Don't we all?

Officially not, but it's inevitably a consideration.
I suspect that production was only destined for Wales with the expectation of a nice cash incentive from the Welsh Assembly. This has not been forthcoming so he's chosen to jump ship. The arrangement with MB is a very convenient one and one that should prove lucrative for Ineos plus provide some security for the start-up and enables MB to off-load the Hambach plant, not dissimilar to how BMW got rid of Longbridge.
