Default Help..Fuel gauge problem

Got in the car today and the fuel gauge shows zero. { Tank has 40 litres of diesel in it) . Amber warning light shows on initial start up but needle does not move.
Any ideas where I should start looking??

Cool

Possibly the sender unit in the tank has stuck. But I expect one of our experts will be along with the answer.

A common occurrence on these cars, mine has been doing it for years, as you start driving and the fuel sloshes about it seems to settle down and work as normal

Another vote for the sender unit on the driver's side Nick. If you search the forum you'll find a member's thread (this year I think) describing how the track on his sender had worn away but only over a specific arc. Strangely this fault seems to affect only diesels.

I spent a lot of time looking into this. If you search 'Fuel gauge - strange readings', you should find the thread with all the info and pics.

I'd be 99% certain it'll be worn tracks on one of your sender boards.....
