I guess it’s best not to jump to conclusions about it just yet. But seeing as the terror police are investigating it then it’s looking more likely it was a terrorist attack rather than a politically motivated one.

Whatever the reasons it’s really sad, his left behind five children and his wife. From what I’ve read about the guy he seemed like a hard working uncontroversial MP who was more interested in doing right by his local area than getting involved in the Westminster circus.

Could do with more MPs like him, whatever colour rosette their wearing.

I don’t care what nationality the killer was, he should be dealt with in accordance with the full force of the law.

As most of you know, I’m not a lover of the Tory, but no one should be killed or assaulted doing their job, it’s about time that the law grew a pair and dealt with scum properly.

Agreed.

I hope the murderer is going to face a long sentence for what is a cold blooded murder of an innocent person

Very often, these people are brainwashed, into thinking they are part of some righteous movement for good, when what they do goes against what any right thinking person would do, often the grooming is done on line, away from churches, mosques etc, where they might get reported As i understand it the assailant was already on the police radar for holding extremist views,

This seems to be a recurring theme with the terrorist attacks that have happened over the last few years. You have to wonder what’s going wrong with the processes we have in place to try and prevent this kind of radicalisation in the first place.

Seems to me like Amess was targeted simply because he was easy to get to, MPs are relatively unprotected and these surgeries seem a opportunity to make a big splash for someone who’s been radicalised.

Reading this is shocking. As my local MP I have met him once or twice. Always a gentle man (two words there intentionally) and a lasting memory for anyone meeting him is that always genuine beaming smile. A tragedy and an irreplaceable loss.

He sounds a thoroughly decent man Ray judging by the number of tributes from all the parties and people from the community he served. What particularly touched me was his love of animals and his willingness to speak up on their behalf over welfare issues.RIP Sir David.
