Don't leap to swap all the lifters.
The lifter body is made in two parts, and it seems that the weld fails between the bucket and the internal plate that the piston pokes through. Once they're clean, the crack's easily visible. Found this on my turbo, and have since seen it on a couple of other K's. |

The odd thing is though its usually fairly quiet when the engine is cold, it only gets noisy after a few minutes when the engine starts to warm up
I changed the oil 10/40 Semi Synthetic (Petronas) when i did the head gasket along with a new genuine MG Filter. I usually change the oil every 8000 miles so i really have no idea why a previously quiet lifter has all of a sudden decided to become noisy. Its not a major issue as you cant hear it inside the car and it dosn't really affect the cars performance. I may try the lifter oil and if that does nothing i will flush the engine and try some 10/40 fully synthetic. If that doesn't work i will get some new lifters |

If the lifter liquid doesn't work, do what I did today. Strip the camshafts out and remove the lifters one at a time. Strip and clean them thoroughly with solvent and scotchbrite, fill them back up and refit them. The engine will be quiet as a mouse with barely any lifter tap, takes a while for them to fill, but the sound of silence is awesome. I stripped and cleaned sixteen yesterday and fitted them today. My engine is just getting better and better. The ones I took out today will go into the jar of diesel and get serviced for the next engine. My turbo.
