Default Condensation after polishing headlights

Polished up the ZTT headlights and the TT headlights on Saturday, both cars didn’t need too much work, mild polish with a rotary on its slowest setting plus a coat of uv protection applied by hand, eBay unbranded stuff like a thick clear liquid. It rained about an hour later and most of the night.

This morning all 4 headlights had condensation inside!! None have ever suffered from this before.

Seem ok now once dried out, I’ll see what they’re like in the morning. Anyone else had this?

I think what's happened is that as you've polished the lights, they have got warm.

The warm air has nowhere to easily escape (unless you take out a bulb or two) and takes on water vapour from the atmosphere.

When the light cools down - hey presto - condensation.

This slowly evaporates off through the small gaps around the bubs.

No harm done.

Happy to hear other ideas and explanations.

Andy.

I used a Seely polishing kit (IMHO a very good buy with everything you need for the job). There is a sachet that contains the UV coating with specific instructions to keep the treated lens free of moisture (dry!!) for at least 24 hours following coating. Although I gave it a good 3-4 hours in the late afternoon to harden there was an overnight dew and it completely b....red all my good work; for what it's worth it looked a bit like condensation. Seems like the warm acrylic theory fits your particular issue though.
Any OP know what the UV liquid treatment is, funny stuff to apply with a sponge, terrible pong and goes all sticky in next to no time?

There is actually a breather port in the lights so it should dry naturally, you can accelerate the drying by pulling off the rubber caps and letting a hair drier blow through the hole for 20 mins...
