I hate the rain !!!!!!

Found after two days of heavy rain my spare wheel well is a swimming pool .

Although mine only contains my spare wheel (and a lot of water) what a stupid place on other models to put a whole load of expensive and water sensitive electronics.

Yes, not the best of design decisions.

I found out that my high speed wipers don't work whilst battling through the deluge on the M1 in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

That and Mrs Noc's ABS light came on a few times.

Gives me a few things to do when I get a spare moment or two.

Hi Robert
I know it is not conventional but drill a few 3mm holes in the boot spare wheel well, protect the bare edge of the drilled hole or drill them through the plugs that are in there, this will allow the water to drain in the mean time then trace where the water is getting in so you will have a dry boot for the future.

Reading your post, I thought I should check my spare wheel well , and there it was, an inch of water lying there. A quick sponge out, and a quick look round, the near side rear light seal looks the likely culprit. Another thought maybe from the the rear quarter panel trim area ?
I am arranging a couple of drill holes to prevent a water build up in future.
I have never had this problem before, just goes to show, I was praising our cars no end, but that's life.

Mines th same. Iv got it all in bits as we speak. If I reverse it up bank in th drive no leak at all even after last night deluge… All very strange.


Iv done most of th fixes see th link below but th water is now coming along th top of th inside of th wings. It then hits a bit of sealant (a trip I call it) and is then dripping straight onto th light electrical blocs. They'll be faulty next.

Had 2 leaks in my boot. Rear lights,fixed with new seals. Also rear screen,leak stopped by gorilla tape along bottom edge, Waiting build up courage to tackle that,or visit a windscreen replacement specialist to reseal it.

Feel your pain, not quite a few inches of water. Ive removed all the boot mats and sprayed the thing talcum powder, it has showed up the leaks coming from the rear lights and the fixings that secure the strips at the rear ( The chrome trim that would be on a 75, its just black bumper on my ZT).

Getting onto replacing the rear light seals, and reseating the rear trim with added silicon in the next few days. hoping for a nice dry boot after that.

Iv had a thought. What about taking th rubber surround out. (professional maybe required) Filling it with a suitable high build sealant and then sqweezing rubber surround back on. Clean up excess. Don't drive till its gone off. Sounds a cobble but no water will be getting there again. My window clips on th lower edge that I used CTCCC on years ago are dry. Im thinking th ones up th side and along th top (if there is some) could be suspect.?
