The lens was as low as it can go, what I should have done is moved further back and zoomed in or reached into my camera bag and pulled out my F1.8 I may play around with the photo at some point and soften down the background and cheat a little Thanks for the comments Paul

Great shot !!
My only criticism is camera choice and the consequences of the choice |

Looks good for a phone shot to me
I know phone cameras are much better these days but I never have much luck with them maybe I need a tripod for it !

The detail is lost if you zoom into the frame but for a phone and tiny sensor it ain't bad I guess . Quote:
I could imagaine the results I could have had with a nice wide angle and maybe a polarising filter on it to make the blues pop and the clouds fluff up even more It's a shot I may try again some time as Felixstowe Pier isn't that for from me and it's a place Ros and I love to go, mainly the dock area to watch the ships come and go

It would be a great place to go back but you have to do it with blue skies and fluffy clouds. |

Ok, I'll try a small constructive comment here. Given the limitation of the lens being used it's turned out a nice picture - largely due to being a nice frame. The one thing that lets it down is that there's not a single thing in the picture that draws the eye more than anything else. Meaning that its a deliberate rather than involuntary act to scan the picture with the eye. I think this is down to the blurriness in the fore-midground. The white house nearest the camera would have been an ideal point to draw the eye. But unfortunately it is out of focus (look a the tree above) as would the beach huts in front of it on the beach. I suspect the focus is either averaged or at the centre of the frame. Sacrificing focus at the further reach of the picture (where everythings too small for the viewer to notice or care) and focusing directly on the white house may have lifted the picture a bit more. There, I've said it (and it was probably easier to say than to think to do when the picture was being taken) Make of it (the critique) what you will.
