How do you tip the post(wo)man at Christmas?
Utterly off-topic, although I'm sure some places have started putting out the Christmas things (actually, i was reminded of this because I saw a house down the road still had their Xmas lights up).
However, I've been wondering - both my wife and I work, postlady comes around 9:30... How do I give her her tip? (I live on a busy road and leaving a envelope attached to the door would be just the same as putting it in the hands of the crack user who steals it). |

Seriously though.... Do you trust your neighbour? If so give them an envelope to give to the lady, providing, of course they are at home....

The comment 'Deliver the damned parcels I posted last week' would be the only tip I'd give anyone form the postal service.
My Brother in law used to work in the sorting office and has a few stories that would shock you. Use a courier.

Unfortunately when I put things like this on this forum they get removed as the mods want to protect the owners club company from prosecution but I will state that some of the things he witnessed were down right illegal and it was considered common practice by the shift he was on so he left.
Also I've got nothing against Miss or Mr postie that delivered the main but I don't see the point in tipping them. I don't tip my local petrol station or the woman I see every week at Sainsbury's so why tip someone that is paid to deliver mail to us?

My regular Postie is agreat guy, always tries to leave parcels somewhere safe and DRY, and even signs for them on my behalf to save me a trip to the sorting office.

It is odd tipping the postman, but it's just "one of those things". Bit like tipping the milkman (although I havn't had milk delivered for at least 15 years). "British baksheesh" perhaps?
The postlady has been very nice since I almost blew my top when she put a parcel containing a £1500 lens in the recycling bin on collection day because "otherwise I would have had to carry it back to the sorting office" |
