Not bad for the first go.
Just had a go at doing my head liner. I removed it months ago and it’s been slowly driving me mad. So l dug it out of the garage gave it a clean and stuck the stuff on.

What is the scratchy stuff?
Something similar to glass fibre? Makes my hands itch, I wonder if I'm allergic to it, but I'm not allergic to glass fibre I wouldn't want to do the job to the itchy stuff, so well done on getting it recovered

Pretty sure its a form of glass filler used in the polyurethane foam backing of the headlining, it teats your skin exactly the same as glass fibre.
