Default granite counter top sealing

I just had a new Granite counter installed less than a month ago. The guy who installed the granite countertop, ddn't apply the sealant. I have read here that granite is porous and must be sealed to prevent or inhibit staining.

So the question is: Do I need to apply the sealer now? If so, how? What is the best brand of sealant that's safe for a food prep area?

I saw this demonstrated on tv cleaning and polishing a granite top. Ordered it and am very happy with the results:

Word of warning, if you spill any fruit juice on the worktop clear it up immediately. The acid in the juice will damage the surface very quickly.

ask the installer to revisit and seal or ask him what sealant to use

read this web site as there is another word of warning in it
