yes, -so, I've used this for several years now, including my Rover 75 diesels, you dont have to take all the oil out in one go, take out say 5 litres, pour it off into an empty oil container, and carry on, plus vacuuming out the filter housing.

If you are putting 6.5l into a 1.8 you have something wrong! the kv6 only holds 5.2 liters

Thanks Wyn and there you go, have been looking at vacuum pumps for some time including Pela at Machine Mart, noted there prices and worked on 'data' seen in earlier posts where 6.5 ltrs was shown, didn't stop to think diesel has different capacity to K4/K6 and that's now excellent news as means I can go for less expensive options. Didn't want a 6ltr is needed 6.5 to do job.

Now checked Machine Mart again and Pela 6ltr is just £8 more than the Laser, is it worth the extra money?

Now we all hate garage charges especially when £40 per hour becomes £48 with VAT, and most of all I hate waste, i.e. fit T piece as a precaution means wasting perfectly good OAT anti-freeze, can this pump be used to drain coolant as well as refill?
