V6 2.5 auto hot start problem
Hello gentlemen, my 75 v6 2.5 is starting to have problems with hot start.
When I stop for 20 minutes to go shopping, I have trouble restarting. I have to force the starter for a few seconds for the engine to start. Sometimes after two starts. I changed the crankshaft sensor without success. The battery is new. What do you think? The vehicle runs very well. Thank you |

If you are suffering from difficult starts i would also consider the Cam Sensor as a possible culprit.

Excuse me, I was wrong. I changed the sensor located near the engine oil filler cap: is this the camshaft sensor? I also have the crankshaft sensor that I haven’t changed because I don’t know where it is ( and I don’t know its usefulness).

A failing crank sensor will cause non starts and stalling .
A failing cam sensor will only cause non starts The cam sensor on the V6 -190 is near the oil filler cap -see link below and scroll down https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...=204883&page=2

So it sounds you have changed the cam sensor - so when she fails to start is the rev counter moving at all ?
If the rev counter (tachograph) is not moving when you try to start the car that points to a failing crank sensor which are known to fail when the engine is hot and start working again once cool. Not sure where the crank sensor sits on the V6 -on mine its on the front bell housing but mine is a 1.8t Failing hot is a classic sign of crank sensor starting to fail.

Tachometer Martin. A tachograph is the device used in HGVs to monitor a driver's time at the wheel. They're so similar and easily confused.

True - that's why i think Rev Counter is more easily understood.

Was the engine cold when you started her up ? A failing crank sensor stops working completely when hot - so best take her for a good spin to get the engine hot-stop somewhere convenient and then try to re-start - if she wont start and the rev counter remains still it points to the crank sensor.
