Default Intercooler - silicone hoses

It's time to to sort out the collapsing rubber hoses and inflating o-rings once and for all, and replace them with silicone 'n' stainless. The list of items below is missing any refernce to actual hose, and it's this I'd like advice on. Comments also welcome please on the list.

57mm 45Ί silicone bend (EGR end)
57mm 90Ί stainless pipe
57mm-51mm 90Ί reducer (intercooler end - fits onto the black plastic 90Ί bend pipe with the infamous o-rings)

Thanks.

Thats the right bits you need. All available on ebay. In regards to the stainless 90 degree bend, ensure you get one with the groove on the ends to prevent the silicone pipes popping off under boost pressure. If the stainless pipe just has flat ends, the silicone pipe will keep popping off no matter how good the clamp holding it is.

Thanks Rick. Isn't there a length of hose needed anywhere though?

Dougie.

They just come in a standard size i believe. Usually 150mm in length if i rememver correctly. The silicone pipes can be cut down in size if you want to make them shorter.

You could always go with one from Jules save all the joints with silicone?

Thanks for that. So - 1 x 150mm length of 57mm hose will suffice for the job? Also I can't see any ribbed 90Ί stainless ends.

Dougie.

Great thanks. Looking at Jules' pic, I'm unclear how the 90Ί stainless pipe would connect to the air temp sensor (which mine has)?

Probably as Jules supplies hoses that fit out of the box without the need for stainless steel add on bits

You still have to use that temp sensor section. If you want to go for stainless and silicone the order you fit them in is, 57mm 45 degree silicone bend, then the temp sensor, then a small straight piece of silicone (if you cut a small piece off the 45 degree bend you can use that), then the 57mm 90 degree stainless pipe, then the 57mm to 51mm 90 degree reducer pipe goes to the plastic pipe on the intercooler.

Here's the bits you will need:

57mm 45degree bend silicone:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/45-Degree...frcectupt=true

57mm 90 degree stainless pipe:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-25-57mm...frcectupt=true

57mm to 51mm 90 degree reducer silicone:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silicone-...frcectupt=true

Also get yourself some decent clamps or jubilee clips for the pipes. I use Mikalor heavy duty ones but thats because I run a higher boost pressure on mine: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MIKALOR-W...frcectupt=true

I think the size you need is 60-63mm, as the 57mm pipe size is internal diameter, not external.
