Prices for insurance renewal is more expensive in the months of December and January, apparently.

Sometimes it makes a huge difference if you get a quote weeks in advance, I have found price's tend to be cheaper. Insurance companies look at you as organised, less risk to have an accident.

If you leave it until the last minute, insurance companies rely on the fact that you need insurance quite soon, so the premium tends to be higher (you also appear to the insurer as rushed, less organised).

I now always go looking for quotes at least 30 days beforehand, I always see the price increase as my expiry date gets closer.
February 18th it’s due.

I was with Tesco for quite a few years until two years ago when my renewal quote came through at triple the previous year. Phoned up as to me it must have been a mistake. The child on the phone just told me that's what it is and no apologies with it. Told him I would not be renewing and going elsewhere. No offer to requote or see if any discount could be had was just told that's your choice. So much for loyalty and customer service, got a great deal through Hastings direct including European breakdown for an 18 year old car.

Tesco simply repackages Ageas policies - it did this in 2009

Ageas did a similar deal with John Lewis in 2008 and a so called “special deal for older drivers” with Age U.K.

So many “High St” or brand name companies get into bed with insurance companies so the can get a slice of your money easily with no direct marketing costs.

Further to the above post. Today I got in touch with Adrian Flux for a insurance quote. Came in at £330.00. Then my own insurance renewal came in just after............. £457.00. Last year was £410.00. Guess where I am going?

I paid £160 for my ZT190 last year plus I got £40 cashback, total paid £120. I will do the same this year, head to Quidco for the cashback offer.

I really dont understand why more folk don't take advantage of these cashback offers, there is no catch, nothing to fear.

Use Quidco for all your online purchases, even ebay.

Delighted to hear this - whilst I don’t use them now I used Adrian Flux when I had my much modified Land Rover. I found them competitive, easy to deal with, excellent admin, and provided a Schedule of Insurance that listed all the modifications so that there would not be an issue in the event of a claim.

I have come across several cases where insurance companies try to decline a claim saying that modifications are not listed- even when details have been provided.

It is wise NOT to rely on a telephone conversation alone - follow up with an email and/or a letter.
