Default Highline / Sat Nav issue

Right got a highline with a mk3 sat nav, going to hold my hands up and say this is one issue im unsure about on our cars so im going to post a thread on this and find out whats going on.

Want to figure it out before I remove from the car.

Everything works (tv until digital switch off and all) except the sat nav. No option to select it on the screen.

So ive been out to check and thus its got no red light to the unit.

Going to remove the unit tuesday and look for that its plugged in correctly as start and also water egress whilst im at it.

If it doesnt power up is it likely the mk3 unit is scrap?

Hi. I too have the exact same issue with my Hi-Line sat nav so hope someone can post some help or advice too. I thought I read somewhere that there was an in line fuse to the sat nav unit but despite all my searching cannot find anything. Could it just simply be a blown fuse? If yes which one and where.

Cheers

Walter

If no red light, 99.9% water ingress has killed it.

I've saved a couple before by using a toothbrush and a bit of toothpaste to clean the crud off

Rinse in clean water and leave in the airing cupboard to 48 hours.

I will give that a go if its disconnected.

I can hear a fan type noise running from the wheel well also when the car is unlocked, would this be the tv unit per chance?

Yes thats the video module (box to the left) it feeds the head unit screen display and contains the now defunct analogue TV tuner.

Usually the menu screen is generated from the Navigation computer, but when that doesn't work and the red light goes out, the video module kicks in with a much cruder more blocky menu screen, looking a bit like an old ZX Spectrum type face.

Get the nav unit out, and look on the underside for water damage as Greeners suggested. You can prize off the bottom metal casing to reveal the PCB.
