I removed the 'black condom' from mine years ago and replaced it with an o ring that fits snugly into the cap. Im sure the condom is only there in the first place so it can be stored without fliud leaking from it before being sold as a sealed unit. Once a year using Gunson Eeze Bleed i push through about 200ml of clean fliud, which can only be good news for the master and slave seals.

I've also cut the rubber to allow more fluid to be held in the reservoir with no problems at all.
As said already, moisture affecting the fluid is a very slow process & at least the reservoir is inside the car so not exposed to all winds & weather. Personally, I wouldn't panic about it but if you're worried about it, just look out for one. Your clutch won't fail because of this anytime soon that's for sure. |
