I have fabricated that clip before.
Not to hard if you use a light gauge bit of zinc bracket (roof) just copy the one you have !!!
Have a good vice and it will all be good !!

I know all about these...

The Rover ones you can buy are too short, and most facelift cars Ive seen have two of these together (4 in total at the front) to make up the distance to the screw hole.

This is useless as they do not do anything as they don't bite into the plastic "wing" on the bumper.

On most of the Mk1s ive seen, its longer, and clips tight to the plastic wing and the screw hole is in the right place.

Only solution is the breakers for the proper ones, instead of the short ones you can buy now.

Thread moved to a more appropriate forum. Re-direct left in old. This may be the better forum as threads get ‘lost’ very quickly in the General Forum.

It is much easier to remove them altogether as over time they no longer grip the little tag they are attached to pics below.

Also they rust and sometimes can not be undone, the screw head also gets damaged.

Remove them and replace them with a plastic block, the ones used for chipboard units etc, use a thin hacksaw blade and saw a line in the block, place it on the tag, then glue it in place where the metal clip used to be, drill 2.5/3mm hole into the block this will then take a stainless steel screw and hold great, no more rusting or trouble lining it up when you come to re-fit the bumper.
