Situation aside I'm thankful that it wasn't the 5th gear car lost....that would have been a real shame!!

Thanks

Social and domestic - no problem - £x

Social and domestic with commuting £x +£y

Such a shame for scaramanger, but by no means unusual

Yep, I second that.
Also, a fully comp policy used to enable you to drive other cars.
Not anymore...., not on any of the policies I have had the non-pleasure of receiving over the last few years.😡

Then in December my wonderful 5th Gear Car dumped all her coolant - water pump had died . Not letting my garage go near her for such a crucial job and being skint I was forced to SORN her.

Lucky Forum master Jules and his lovely wife popped down yesterday and rescued her

However it was with a tear in my eye as I watched her drive away for the last time

Only just seen this Lee !

The annoying thing is the water pump was ok it turned out to be the plastic elbow on the stat which had only been replaced just before you bought the car. (from a well know supplier on here I had a whole batch of 10 of them fail within a year, 3 of which caused the owners to send them to the pearly gates)

Be very wary of parts being described as OEM because they were definitely not and probably originated from China like a lot of parts do these days.

Anyway the 5th gear 75 lives on and is in good hands in Manchester

See you soon Lee with your new Frosty Tourer and some TLC

That well known supplier needs to be outed, I'm 95% sure who is being referred to.

For the uninitiated, what is the "Fifth Gear 75"?
Cheers.

The market place is riddled with poor quality parts, it's a minefield. Even some part manufacturers I have learned to trust over many years of diy car mechanics, are now supplying dodgy parts. It's a shame an otherwise good car has gone because of this. We should manufacture more here in the uk.

I agree we need UK manufacturing for a multitude of reasons not just our beloved cars.

However if parts are NOT OEM they should be sold as such, otherwise it simply decietful and dishonest practice.

Caveat emptor
