Thread revival !!

One of our customers last week reported his Smartnav was still working !
Was he dreaming?

I forgot to quiz him over this after finishing his MOT and Revotec installation.

Perhaps he thought
"Guidance not active" when button pressed was a working system

As far as I am aware, smartnav is still active, certainly was last time I checked on a car fitted with it.
Got the operator, I explained that I'd accidentally pressed the button

Will have to have a look on the Traffic master site to see if it's still up and running

Edit, just checked if it says "guidance not available" it's either poor signal or the button hasn't been pressed for long enough

Just checked the traffic master site, smartnav is alive and well but it's unclear if they still support the system as fitted to our cars.

Some of our cars had a Trafficmaster system fitted from the factory and I believe it is that which no longer works. I had mine installed by Trafficmaster when I bought the car in early 2006 (my ex-wife worked for Trafficmaster and the system had been fitted in previous cars I owned but I transferred it over) and that still works fine. It broke a couple of years ago and they came out and fitted a new unit but it still works very well and I make good use of it.

Now if I press my satnav button for two seconds the phone line takes me to an operator (a human!) and I tell them verbally where I want to go, with or without a postcode. They then send the route to my car and it talks me through the route until I reach my destination or I switch it off.

I have found it an excellent system. I am not dependent upon out-of-date disks and it will divert me around roadworks or accidents. I pay about £11 per month for it.

It's working fine in all three of my Rovers.Although I did have an issue with the system in my 45 around four weeks ago. When I pressed the button to call the control centre I got the message "Unable to connect to the mobile phone network".I phoned them about this and they said it likely needed a firmware update, which they duely tried. It didn't work so they said they would "Lift the bars",whatever that meant.Anyway it worked and is now fine again.I have a pay as you go subscription in all three cars which I find great. You top up by credit/debit card for £25 which lasts until you have used you credit, there is no time limit of when it must be used by.Excellent live system in my opinion.I believe routes are around one pound.

Was visiting a buddy in London back in December and decided to take my fiances R25 to give it a good run.

Was very surprised to see the TrafficMaster clock showing some symbols I'd never seen before on the M4 leaving London!

I still use my Traffic master smart nav. As I’m now retired I have changed over to pay as you go and speed cam 🚨 alerts.

On calling the phone number given - 0345 521 1144 - there's a recorded message giving options of extensions for several different departments. It seems the company still operates (having been bought by an American consortium for £73M in 2010), but it appears to mainly be dealing with such things as vehicle tracking for fleet operators and I doubt they still tell individuals how to get through the streets of Manchester by the quickest route.
