Default 2.0 V6 on gas

Does the V6 suit gas? I love my 75 Tourer when it's working but, despite chucking too much money at it, it seems to be one fault after another. I've seen a v6 with a gas conversion (semi-official Rover, or a/market - I don't know). Did the engine suit gas? I had a Vauxhall Astra that ran on gas a few years back but that burned out the valve seats and ended up running on engine oil.

The V6 is definitely well suited to gas. I have a ZT automatic with a BRC system that was installed by a previous owner. It needed to be set up carefully, but when running well was indistinguishable from petrol as far as performance concerned.

I recently parted with my 2 litre V6 auto with LPG. BRC system as well. Ran very well indeed. I fancy a 2.5 with LPG one day.

Mine is a 2.5, not a 2.0, my third. All have been converted (by me) to run on lpg. I wouldn't go back - 1/2 price motoring! I converted the 1st Sterling in 2000, went through 3 of those, then changed to the 75s. At 20k miles pa I've saved a fortune with no loss in performance!
I've learnt a lot in those 20 years though - the "experts" could learn a lot. The system is very simple, and because you have petrol and gas, it makes fault-finding on engine faults much simpler as you can easily narrow the fault down by elimination.

I love LPG, diesel economy but with no smelly hands at the pump and clean oil

I'd say better to buy a car already converted if not DIY, and don't listen to the pseudo nonsense LPGA II guidelines about it not being legal to do it yourself

I've converted six in the past, it's brilliant
