When you do get in there, take the two locking mechanisms off and clean and grease them up. Also disconnect the three cables from the box on the side of the engine compartment, and hold them up in the air while squirting some WD40 down them. You will think you have a new setup then and the pull in the cabin will lay flat as it should instead of sticking out.

And when you bolt the locking mechanisms back down don't overtighten them - just a nip up is enough.
