A friend of mine worked at a main dealer when this was happening, he was amazed at the amount of classics being swapped in for basically cheap cars. Some he reckons must have been worth more than the discount but once on the scheme they had to be scrapped or at least broken for parts.
The one that amazed him the most was a TR7 with less than 25k miles on it, it wasn't immaculate but a real time warp specimen. The owner had MOT'd it and he drove it to the dealers with no problem. He was tempted to offer the person more than the scrappage scheme discount just to save it. |
