Hi, which thermostat mod did you carry out, and did you insert the stat the right way in, may also be an air lock, take the top off the expansion tank and start and run engine at idle whilst squeezing the coolant hoses, check the air temp as the engine warms up. Good luck

Hi Paul.
The 9 o’clock position on the Rover means nowt really as it could be 75c up to 100c, it is best to do the true temp engine by using the on board computer, 19 then to 7 as in the video below by trebor

It's a diesel. Unlikely to be an air lock.--

Sounds more like the flaps on the drivers side are not working as the passenger side is OK.

That would effect both sides of the car. He has a problem on the drivers side only.---

Arctic's right.

I've recently sorted a coolant leak following a split hose.
Back in August with AC on, we'd just driven 35 miles in mixed traffic, so engine was quite hot.
My engine was approaching overheating but I had no idea, it wasn't until I turned air con off after I parked, that I heard the cooling fan was still running .
I used function 7 and it was at 106° however the dash gauge was stationary at 9 o'clock. So be warned!

I'd lost about 3 litres, fortunately I keep 2 litres in the boot and I topped up with our drinks bottles.
Soon dropped to 87 ish.

Passenger side only getting hot is an unusual one. check the blend motor on the drivers side.
