Default Two speed cooling fan

Only have high speed on my fan on the 1.8t and looking through the grill it has 3 wires, so after a bit of searching seems like its a 2 speed without the resistor so do I need to replace the brushes within?

Can't seem to find a how to any help appreciated also a link to the part would be great.

So just to confirm Eddy, you've done the 'demist test' and the fan doesn't run. You've then bridged the relevant contacts on the trinary switch connector to trigger the faster speed and the fan then does run. Am I right?

Possibly; you certainly need to remove the bumper to investigate further. I'm surprised that you can count the motor wires by looking through the grille. I can't on my car.

Search for threads by Arctic for motor repair. He has posted excellent pictorial guides. Bumper removal is here and for the facelift, here.

Here it is. Ignore the incorrect reference to "heater". Do not be tempted by inferior products for sale on e-bay.

Exactly what I'm after thank you, yeah i bridged the connections and the fan kicks in, can spot the wires through the grill can't see a resistor in there so will wait for the parts before bumper removal save doing it twice .

All 1.8 fans are 2-speed. They come in 3-wire and 2-wire flavours according to motor edition.
